Middle Eastern Dance (Belly Dance)
This class is suitable for both beginners and those with more experience. Please see the FAQ if you are an absolute beginner and are wondering if this is the class for you.
This summer we will be working on an original Blackwillow choreography to the track "Friends" by Robert Plant and Jimmy Page from the album No Quarter.
The choreography uses both sharp and smooth moves to express the music and as an added extra it incorporates veil work at both the beginning and the end.
The hours class will consist of a warm-up, a review of moves previously learned and some practise and play with veils before we work on a section of the choreography.

Improvised Tribal Style (Belly Dance)
This class is suitable for both beginners and those with more experience (although it will be helpful to you to have a knowledge of some basic Middle Eastern Dance moves).
Tribal style is a unique (and sometimes controversial) form of belly dance that calls upon individuals to work as a team and create improvised dances.
Blackwillow teaches the style used by Covert Bling, Readings first and (so far) only Tribal performance troupe, which is mainly influenced by Fat Chance Belly Dance with a bit of Gypsy Caravan and other troupes, as well as some of our own signature moves.

Over the summer we will work on getting comfortable dancing in groups, synchronising basic moves and then introduce more of the many Tribal moves available.

SEPTEMBER 2008
Classes will be covered for 7 weeks by Helen of Covert Bling.
The Middle Eastern Class will continue to learn new moves, play with veils and work on the "Friends" Choreography.
The Improvised Tribal Style class will work on *blingier* moves and continue to work on chorus and leader formations.
Have fun with Helen and I aim to return at the beginning of November.
