 Class Outlines 2010

Middle Eastern Dance (Belly Dance)

Sundays 2.00 - 3.00pm

In January 2010 we will concentrate on all basic moves so that Beginners are looked after, as well as moving on to layering for those with more experience.

We will also be learning how to use a stick!  Dance canes will be on sale from Blackwillow at the classes but feel free to buy your own or even use a walking stick you might have around the house or find in a charity shop.

This class is suitable for both beginners and those with more experience .  You could also come along if you know nothing about the dance style.  Please see the FAQ if you are an absolute beginner and are wondering if this is the class for you.

The class works as a drop-in as well as having structure for the term.  See the FAQ for more information about how new-comers are welcomed and incorporated into the on-going aims of the class.

Improvised Tribal Style (Belly Dance)

Sundays 3.00 - 4.00pm

Beginners to this class are welcome as we will happily go over some of the basic moves we all know and use regularly.

Tribal style  is a unique and sometimes controversial form of belly dance that calls upon individuals to work as a team and create improvised dances.

This class is suitable for both beginners and those with more experience .  You could also come along if you know nothing about the dance style (although it will be helpful to you to have a knowledge of some basic Middle Eastern Dance moves)

Blackwillow teaches the style used by Covert Bling, Readings first and (so far) only Tribal performance troupe, which is mainly influenced by Fat Chance Belly Dance with a bit of Gypsy Caravan and other troupes, as well as some of our own signature moves.

This class will continue to learn new moves that can be added to the overall improvisational repertoire and play with musical interpretation.
